Zeekr’s UK launch: The next Chinese electric car brand you’ve never heard of
Zeekr, a Chinese electric car brand, is set to join the growing influx of Chinese brands entering the UK market. Launched in 2021, Zeekr has already sold 150,000 domestic cars and is expanding into markets like Latin America, the Middle East, and Europe’s left-hand drive heartlands. The brand’s CEO, Spiros Fotinos, believes Zeekr’s expansion strategy is for the right-hand drive world and has confirmed a two- to three-year time frame for a UK launch.
The Zeekr models are built on the same Geely SEA platform as the Volvo EX30, Smart #1, and Smart #3. Zeekr’s direct sales model focuses on building long-term relationships with customers, with over-the-air updates, a five-year/100,000-mile warranty, an eight-year battery warranty, and access to a Europe-wide charging network.
