VinFast considers launching $20,000 VF 3 electric car as US dealers show interest

Vietnamese electric vehicle maker VinFast is considering launching its VF 3 electric car in the US, which could start at under $20,000. The VF 3 is a compact but functional electric mini car designed for Vietnam, with a ground clearance of 16 inches and 16″ wheels. VinFast is shifting its strategy to sell models through US dealers, and has had several meetings with prospective dealers, with overall feedback coming back positive.
The VF 3 could offer something no other automaker can likely touch, as it is a “price leader” and attracting younger buyers. VinFast is struggling to gain traction in the US market, with EV leader Tesla slashing prices all year, forcing other automakers to follow. A $20,000 electric car would be the perfect addition to VinFast’s US portfolio, allowing the brand to establish itself in a growing segment.
