Video: Why the 2024 Volvo XC40 Recharge Is One of Our Favorite EVs

The 2024 Volvo XC40 Recharge EV is a small crossover that combines sleek Swedish design, smooth handling, impressive acceleration, and functional utility. It is roughly the same size as a Mini Countryman and Chevy Bolt EUV, but offers a comfortable interior space for passengers. The EV comes in two flavors: rear-wheel drive with a larger 82 kWh battery and a 254-mile range, and twin motor all-wheel drive with a 78 kWh battery. The Recharge’s twin-motor all-wheel-drive system produces 402 hp and 494 lb-ft. torque, making it practical, fast, and fun to drive. However, the XC40 Recharge is pricey, starting at $54,000 for the rear-drive model and $61,000 for the all-wheel drive Ultimate.
