Video: Rimac Nevera hypercar smashes Tesla’s Nurburgring electric-car lap record

The Rimac Nevera electric hypercar from Croatia has broken the record for the fastest electric production car to lap Germany’s Nurburgring Nordschleife circuit by 20 seconds. The seven-minute, 5.298-second time set by the Rimac Nevera surpassed the previous record of seven minutes and 25.231 seconds set by the Tesla Model S Plaid electric sedan in early June.
The Nevera is one of the world’s fastest electric production cars and the quickest-accelerating production vehicle, regardless of propulsion type. The Nevera is powered by four electric motors, producing 1427kW and 2360Nm, fed by a 120kWh battery pack. The Nevera is one of the heaviest vehicles to set a lap record around the Nurburgring, weighing approximately 2300kg.
