Tesla is set to produce an add-on battery pack for the Cybertruck, allowing it to drive over 470 miles on a full charge. The battery, which takes up one-third of the Cybertruck’s bed and adds 120 miles of range, is expected to weigh between 500 and 600 lbs. The battery is expected to be available in a future version, but the current price of $16,000 and the need to use a third of the bed for installation may outweigh the benefits. Additionally, the weight of the pack may affect the total payload capacity and charging sessions. Tesla’s lead engineer, Wes Morill, has expressed concerns about the long-term impact of the battery pack on the truck’s performance.
