Tesla’s $10,000-Cheaper Model S, X Are Software Locked for Less Range: Report

Tesla has introduced a new Standard Range trim for its aging Model S and Model X luxury cars, reducing the entry barrier by $10,000 each. The Model S SR is priced at $78,490, while the Model X SR is priced at $88,490. The trade-off is the vehicle’s range on a charge, with the Model S getting an 85-mile reduction and the Model X reducing its range by 79 miles. The Standard Range variants are software locked at a lower usable capacity to justify the price difference.
