Maserati’s Grecale Folgore, an all-electric SUV, has surpassed its predecessor, the Porsche Macan, in terms of price and performance. The all-electric vehicle is priced from £109,900 and will face off against the top-spec Porsche Macan Turbo in the coming months. The Grecale Folgore is directly related to the combustion-engined car, sharing an Alfa Romeo-derived Giorgio platform. Its technical layout includes a 96kWh battery pack mounted in a flat panel and 205kW motors mounted on each axle. The vehicle has a peak power and torque rating of 550bhp and 820Nm, and a 0-62mph time of 4.1 seconds. However, the Maserati is off the pace on almost all fronts, with the Porsche Turbo generating up to 630bhp, 1,130Nm of torque, and a 0-62mph time of just 3.3 seconds. The Maserati is slightly heavier than the Porsche and lacks fancy chassis tech. The battery pack and quoted range are also significantly lower than the Porsche’s, with the Porsche offering a higher-spec 800V electrical system and faster 270kW charging.
