The MG4 Extended Range has been launched, joining the SE Standard Range, SE Long Range, Trophy Long Range, and the sporty XPower. The MG4 won the Affordable Electric Car of the Year in 2023 for its competitive pricing, driving dynamics, equipment levels, and impressive powertrain. The new MSP (Modular Scalable Platform) architecture is key to the MG4’s success, which will form the backbone of the next generation of electric MG models.
The entry-level SE Standard Range starts from £26,995, undercutting the Volkswagen ID.3 by over £10,000. The SE Long Range has a longer range of 281 miles, thanks to the larger 64kWh battery and 135kW charging capacity. The Long Range Trophy offers a 270-mile range, an upgraded version of the MG Pilot System, safety features, and a two-tone roof. The XPower is a sporty all-electric hot hatch, priced at £36,495 and featuring a 242bhp motor. The MSP platform can host all-wheel-drive electric powertrains and allows for battery swap systems and ‘Service-Oriented Architecture’ for over-the-air updates throughout the vehicle’s lifecycle.
