Mercedes-Benz is set to introduce Level 3 semi-automated driving to its EQS and S-Class in 2024. The German automaker’s conditional driver automation system, Drive Pilot, is the first of its kind certified to operate in the US. The system will operate with Level 3 capabilities as long as the car is driving under 40 MPH, on suitable freeway sections, and during high traffic density. Drive Pilot is already available in both the EQS and S-Class, but only for those living in Germany. The feature will be subscription-based, charging $2,500 for the first year.
