Lucid breaks and agrees to adopt Tesla’s NACS

Lucid Motors has agreed to adopt Tesla’s North American Charging Standard (NACS), becoming the twenty-fourth automaker to join the NACS coalition. The move follows Ford’s initial adoption of NACS, which led to other automakers realizing the shift towards Tesla’s charging technology. Lucid, a notable standout, initially resisted joining, citing the hype around NACS as “bizarre” and a plug. However, Tesla has now confirmed its adoption to bring greater convenience to customers. Existing owners with CCS charge ports will gain access to over 15,000 Superchargers in Canada and the US in 2025 with an adapter. Lucid will also integrate the NACS charge port directly into their vehicles in 2025.
