BYD Auto New Zealand is set to launch four new vehicles in New Zealand in 2024, including the Sea Lion 07 electric SUV, Seal U, and an unnamed plug-in hybrid ute. The Sea Lion 07, based on BYD’s existing e-platform 3.0 EV architecture, is expected to be a sub-range of the Seal sedan. The Seal U, an older model known as the Song Plus Champion Edition in China, is expected to be introduced in the first half of 2024. The Sea Lion 07 is a right-hand drive vehicle, while the Seal U is available in plug-in hybrid power. The Sea Lion 07 is based on BYD’s existing e-platform 3.0 EV architecture and incorporates Cell-to-Body (CTB) technology for greater rigidity and safety. The Seal U is expected to be available in RHD markets, with 18.3kWh and 26.6kWh batteries available.
