BYD Atto 3 2023 long-term test

The Atto 3 family crossover is leading the Shenzhen-based battery giant’s assault on the British buyer’s pocket, with the compact Dolphin hatchback and Seal saloon coming next. The Atto 3 has a hefty kit list, including an electric panoramic roof, bird’s-eye cameras, and a rotating 15.6in touchscreen. The interior styling is inspired by the gym environment, with colours like Surfing Blue, Skiing White, Climbing Grey, and Parkour Red.
The Atto 3 is a practical car with a generous cabin, well-screwed together, and a split-level boot. The BYD is a sweet-riding machine with big doughnut tires and a competent powertrain. The Atto 3 didn’t make the top five when compared to rivals in the 31 May issue, but it is a slow-burner with previous success with the Born and Renault Megane E-Tech Electric.
