BMW has launched the BMW i4, the first all-electric model for the brand. The i4 is the first ‘proper’ electric BMW, and its launch was prioritized over other BMW models due to the allocation of precious semiconductor chips. The i4 comes one decade after the Tesla Model S, five years after the smaller Model 3, and two years after the Porsche Porsche Taycan. While BMW is not breaking any ground, there is still room for a car with an exceptional combination of performance, practicality, quality, dynamism, and price. The i4 is based on the same platform as the 3 Series. The BMW i4 is available in three different guises: the less powerful, single-motor, rear-wheel drive eDrive35 and eDrive40, and the M-flavoured M50, which gets an extra motor on the front axle for 4WD.
