Mercedes-Benz’s EQE 500 SUV is a top-of-the-line electric vehicle with a modest-sized battery and excellent efficiency. The EQE 500 has 90.6 kWh of usable lithium ion, similar to Porsche’s Taycans and Audi’s most powerful EVs. It uses 24.2 kilowatt-hours for every 100 kilometers at 125 km/h, which is not exemplary among all EVs. However, it is no worse among battery-powered SUVs, bettering Ford’s Mustang Mach-E and the BMW iX M60.

The EQE 500 can hit 100 kilometers an hour from rest in about five seconds, which is more than adequate but not Tesla-like. The AMG 53 4Matic version of the EQE sports 68 more torques (701 lb-ft) but 214 more horses (616 hp). Both have dual motors, unlike the base 350+ version, which makes do with a single, rear-mounted motor for 288 hp and 417 lb-ft.

There is also an AWD version of the 350 that claims exactly the same 288 ponies despite boasting two motors. It does claim 147 more pound-feet of torque, but since no one buys torque, they probably didn’t bother to restrict that. The EQE uses a most-annoying swipey thing on the steering wheel to adjust the cruise control speed.
