Rivian R1S, R1T: Quad-Motor vs. Dual-Motor EVs compared

Rivian has introduced its new Dual-Motor models, featuring an Enduro drive unit designed to be more efficient, less expensive, and better insulated from supply chain shocks. The company is on track to manufacture 52,000 Rivians this year, with a target of 150,000 units eventually. Rivian’s passenger vehicles will be offered with either the four motors developed by Bosch in the Quad-Motor setup or the Normalized Dual-Motor setup.
The Enduro drive unit is smaller, lighter, and more efficient than the Bosch unit. The Rivian Dual-Motor has a final gear ratio of 11.04:1 in the front and 13.7:1 in the rear, limiting parasitic losses. The Performance Dual-Motor adds Sport mode, making 533 hp, 610 lb-ft of torque and hitting 60 mph in 3.5 seconds. Both drive systems tow up to 11,000 pounds with either drive system, with a 45% battery range drop when towing. Read More The Car Connection
