Rivian has added new “Dual-Motor” and “Performance Dual-Motor” options to its online configurator for new electric vehicles in the USA. The base model R1T dual-motor is priced from 73,000 US dollars, while the R1S starts at 78,000 US dollars for the version with the smallest “standard” battery pack. These prices are kept under the $80,000 MSRP cap to qualify for the US EV tax credit from the Inflation Reduction Act. The new models target customers who want additional range and power without the capability of a quad-motor configuration. Rivian expects to send over-the-air drive mode enhancements for customers with a Performance Dual-Motor.
