Ford’s BlueCruise, also known as Lincoln ActiveGlide, has been a work in progress since its launch in the 2021 Mustang Mach-E. Version 1.2 introduces major new features, including Lane Change Assist, Predictive Speed Assist, and In-Lane Repositioning. Lane Change Assist allows drivers to perform lane changes when requested by the driver, suggesting lane changes for slow-moving traffic. Predictive Speed Assist adjusts the speed as drivers approach a sharp curve, signaling the driver ahead of time when a speed change is about to occur. In-Lane Repositioning keeps the vehicle in its lane while subtly shifting its position away from vehicles in adjacent lanes, especially helpful when next to larger vehicles.

BlueCruise is activated when the car registers that it is on an approved highway. However, it requires drivers to keep their eyes on the road, as Ford monitors them from a camera mounted to the windshield behind the rearview mirror and another set of eyes behind the steering wheel. The system also has limitations, such as slow charging speed and the need for an internal screen showing charging specs.
