2024 Volkswagen ID.Buzz review

The 2024 Volkswagen ID.Buzz is a fully electric van and people mover, available in short- and long-wheelbase versions, two- and three-row configurations, or a full commercial van setup. The ID.Buzz feels more cohesive than the ID.3 and ID.5, with features like charging points, a phone holder, retractable drink holder, and an expansive dashboard. The vehicle offers a wide range of interior and exterior color combinations, making it a win on all fronts. The center console can be removed for easy access to the second row, providing a massive storage cavity and doubling as a storage bin for second-row passengers. The ID.Buzz and ID.Buzz Cargo offer decent cargo capacity, with the second row offering 1121 litres and 2205 litres when folded. The long-wheelbase version offers 306 litres, 1340 litres, and 2469 litres of cargo space. The ID.Buzz Pro SWB uses a single electric motor on the rear axle, producing 150kW of power and 310Nm of torque.
The ID.Buzz is a heavy electric vehicle designed to move people, with a 0-100km/h time of over 10 seconds. Despite these negatives, the ID.Buzz is quite fun to drive, with a direct steering and excellent vision. It has a GVM of 3000kg, with only 529kg available as payload. The ID.Buzz has a five-star Euro NCAP safety rating, with a 92% adult occupant rating, 87% child occupant rating, 60% vulnerable road user rating, and 90% safety assist score. The standard safety kit includes autonomous emergency braking, radar cruise control, lane keeping assistant, and rear cross-traffic alert. The ID.Buzz is one of the cooler vehicle launches in recent years, harking back to the original Kombi with a modern electric twist. It is expected to be purchased by those with enough spare cash to offset the range when fully loaded with kids and their things.
