2024 Volkswagen ID.3 review

The Volkswagen ID.3 has undergone a facelift to improve interior fit, finish, and sound deadening. The car has a head-up display, ample storage, and a 12.0-inch infotainment system with satellite navigation. The ID.3 range of electric vehicles will debut the brand’s connected services Down Under, including app-based remote services. The car has a good leg- and headroom in the second row, but headroom can be tight for taller passengers. The ID.3 becomes a four-seater when fully optioned with the big battery, which may limit appeal to some people.
The car has a combined energy consumption of 16.2kWh/100km, with a claimed driving range of 546km on the WLTP cycle. The battery is a lithium-ion unit. The ID.3 has a softer ride compared to the firmer Cupra Born, with a more comfortable tune. It comes standard with safety tech like autonomous emergency braking, lane-keep assist, rear cross-traffic alert, front and rear parking sensors, reversing camera, and blind-spot monitoring. The ID.3 is still a while away from being on sale in Australia, but its success will depend on its competitive pricing position and availability of charging facilities.
