The 2024 Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV is a luxurious-driving car with a serene ethereality in most situations. Its rear quarters feature a large center console with champagne flute holders, mini fridge, tablets, and thick carpets. However, the car’s responsiveness in twisty, hilly, or high-speed chases is less than expected. The dual-motor all-wheel drive system produces 649 horsepower and 700 lb-ft of torque, but highway passing isn’t as aggressive or impressive as expected. The rear window view is comically small. While the car has chrome and gizmos, it lacks the dazzling machine underneath.
