The 2024 Audi Q4 E-Tron is a compact electric car that competes with the Volkswagen ID.4 and the Tesla Model Y and Hyundai Ioniq 5. It is a solid overall choice with classy Audi styling and good safety tech. The Q4 E-Tron comes in two configurations: a conventional crossover shape and a Sportback with a sloping roofline. The basic shape isn’t unlike Audi’s Q5, though the two share very little.

The Q4 E-Tron can be peppy but not particularly quick. The 82-kwh battery pack is a standard starting point for all, but the “40” version has a single motor good for 201 hp, while the “50” models have an additional electric motor up front for more power and quicker acceleration. Neither is an especially quick charger nor good for more than 265 miles of range, making the Q4 E-Tron a tough sell against more efficient competitors from Hyundai and Tesla.
