Lexus has increased the electric driving range of the UX300e by 200km – and increased its price by up to $7799 – but kept it under the fringe benefit tax (FBT) threshold.

The 2023 Lexus UX300e small electric SUV is getting a significant mid-year update – with more driving range, but price hikes of up to $7799.
Lexus has announced the UX300e will have its driving range upped from 360 kilometres to 560km – an increase of 56 per cent – according to lenient NEDC lab testing.
In more stringent WLTP lab testing in Europe, it claims 450km of driving range – up from 315km.
The extra driving range is thanks to a change in battery – with the current model’s 54.4kWh pack swapped for a 72.8kWh unit.
The UX300e retains its 150kW/300Nm electric motor powering the front axle, holding its place as the most powerful variant in the UX line-up.
Importantly for some, Lexus says the entry-level UX300e Luxury will be priced from $79,990 before on-road costs, keeping it well below the Federal Government’s threshold for Luxury Car Tax and Fringe Benefits Tax.
But prices have risen by $5990 for the base Luxury model – or $7799 for the top-of-the-range Sports Luxury variant.
The latest UX300e brings it into line with the rest of the UX range updated in late 2022, and features a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and wired Android Auto, DAB+ digital radio, satellite navigation, all running through a 13-speaker Mark Levinson sound system. Also standard is a wireless smartphone charger.
Meanwhile, the range-topping UX300e Sports Luxury is priced from $88,490 before on-road costs.
The Sports Luxury adds leather-accented seats, a moonroof, head-up display, 360-degree camera, automatic high beams, LED projector headlights with auto levelling, acoustic front side glass and unique 18-inch alloy wheels.
The updated 2023 Lexus UX300e is due to arrive in showrooms from June 2023.
