You may not pay for fuel with the new 2023 Ford E-Transit electric van, but the Blue Oval charges more than six figures for the privilege.

Ford’s first fully electric vehicle to Australia is the 2023 Ford E-Transit electric van, priced from $104,990 before on-road costs.
Deliveries of the electric commercial are already underway, with Ford offering one long-wheelbase specification, but with mid-roof and high-roof variants.
The electric van forms part of Ford’s plans to bring in at least five hybrid or electric vehicles by the end of 2024. The E-Transit launches shortly after the brand announced it would introduce the Ford Mustang Mach-E, while the upcoming electric Ford Puma is another entrant into the rapidly-expanding electric vehicle market.
Priced from $104,990 before on-road costs, the E-Transit van costs just shy of double the price of a diesel-powered electric van, though it undercuts the LDV eDeliver9 electric van ($116,527 plus ORCs).
On paper the E-Transit is much like the diesel-powered Ford Transit on which it’s based. But the two E-Transit variants emit zero tailpipe emissions, all the while eliminating engine noise and lowering operating costs.
Both variants draw from a 68kWh battery which sends power to a single 198kW/430Nm motor mounted on the rear axle. These outputs make the E-Transit the most powerful variant on sale in Australia.
In mid-roof specification the Ford E-Transit can travel between 230-307km (WLTP) on a single charge, while the high-roof version is slightly lower (222-295km).
Recharging the vehicle is done through the grille-mounted charge socket and supplied Mode 3 (32-amp) charge cable. Using the on-board AC charger (at 11kW) the E-Transit is charged in 8.2 hours, while fast-charging (115kW maximum) is also available to take the battery from 15-80 per cent in 34 minutes.
The E-Transit comes equipped with seating for three occupants in the front row, while infotainment is handled by a 12-inch Sync 4 touchscreen mounted on the dash. This also includes FordPass remote app connectivity and connected services.
A suite of active safety measures remains the same as diesel-powered Transits, with items such as autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot assist, and reversing camera.
There are minimal ways to tell an E-Transit from an internal-combustion Transit, save for the blue slats in the grille fascia and E-Transit badging at the rear. Load space remains the same as the diesel Transit equivalent – 11 cubic metres for the mid-roof and 12.4 cubic metres on the high-roof.
